I knock three times before I enter Kayden's office.

“Please be seated, Adellee." He had stopped reading the papers at his table and looked at me. I'm quite nervous about the way he was looking at me, especially what happened a while ago. 

"So? What do you want to talk about?" He asked.

"It is about your healer. Since I am the only healer in SnowMoon and I left them without an exchange, I want to ask one of your healers to replace me. Can you send one of them to my old pack? They need a healer now since a lot of girls are giving birth this month." I requested.

“You want me to give my healer to your pack?" He said, looking seriously in my eyes.

"Yes." I answered.

"You're asking too much Adellee." I'm shocked at his response. "As you can see, Imelda was an old woman, making her stay in your old pack will make her sick, not to mention the weather there is different.” He said.

"How about the other one? She is still young and she can manage to adapt to the climate change." I said.

"Well.... Louisa is something.... I don’t want to talk about it." He said

“What do you mean?”

“Well. I can't let you have my Healer.” He said 

“WHAT!!” I shouted in front of him. “Why!!” 

“Because the one is old and the other one was my gir----"

A knock on the door interrupts us. 

“Kayden! I'm back!!!” A girl with blond hair and ocean blue eyes came inside his office without even looking at me.

“Louisa,” he said. 

‘So, she's the other Healer.’ I said to myself. 

The girl ignores me and directly sits on Kayden's lap. 

I raise my left eyebrow instantly. Kayden looks at me like he wants to say something but he can't 

Great! The bastard has a girlfriend. 

“Excuse me.” I turned around and left. I ignore the pain that surprisingly grows inside of me. What the hell? That bastard has a girlfriend! 

I heard him call my name but I ignored him and went straight to my clinic. I slammed the door shut, which caused Carrie to jump. 

“Lady Adelle what happened?” Carrie asked. 

“Nothing. How's everything? Are you familiar now with the works that I assigned to you?” I asked changing the subject. 

“Yes! Lady Adelle. I know now what to do and what are the uses of these tools.” She said proudly as she pointed my tools. 

“Good. Now I need you to practice here more. We need to be ready in case of an emergency” I said. 

“Yes, Lady Adelle.” She said. 

I left her and went to my old room to sleep and rest. I feel different. I was too hot and my body was shaking. I never felt this way before. Maybe I need to rest for a while.

KAYDEN'S POV

I try to call Adellee but she ignores me.

"Louisa, you know we are not together anymore, why did you act like that in front of Adellee." I said, pushing her away from my lap. 

I already broke up with her before Adellee arrived here, The contract was more important for me.

"Why? Was it a big deal? You just broke up with me because of that stupid contract." Louisa said.

"We both know it's more than that. You're not my mate Louisa, we need to let go. We tried, but we don't have any potential connection." I said.

"NO FUCKING WAY!” She shouted.

My wolf gets mad instantly at her disrespectful actions.

‘If I were you, I would throw that girl outside our pack. Or else, I'm going to kill her.’ My wolf said. He really didn’t want Louisa from the very start. She was my childhood friend until we decided to level up our relationship, but because of my duty and the contract, I broke up with her. But I also wanted to because of the possibility of having a real mate.

“I need you to leave now, Louisa. My wolf wants to kill you because of your actions." I said, using my alpha tone.

She hesitated at first but when I growl, she hurriedly ran out of my office.

Now I need to find Adellee to explain. She might have misunderstood the situation a while ago.

I follow her scent that leads me to her old room. I opened the door and I saw her peacefully sleeping. I look at her. She's definitely beautiful, though I can't admit it in front of her. Adellee is a beautiful woman. Her hair is white as snow, her eyes are blue and her lips are SO perfect. She’s sexy and admirable in her own way. She stands out from the others. Maybe because she's moon touched. Those kinds of people with high ability in healing were called moon-touched. They are blessed with pale white skin like the moon.

I can't help myself; I touched her face. A slight spark started to travel in my hands that makes me pull away.

‘A potential mate!’ My wolf shouted inside my mind.

No way! She can’t be my-mate. She doesn't have a wolf. How can I check that she can be my mate?

‘Don’t doubt your feelings, don't control and let go!’ My wolf said.

I was about to touch her again when she slowly opened her eyes. 

"Kayden? What are you doing inside my room? She asked.

“I came to talk to you." I said.

“For what? I'm sleeping." She said

"About Louisa." I said

"Oh! About your girlfriend. It's fine Kayden, we both have our own lives. This is just a damn contract." She said, turning her back to me.

Am I assuming this or she sounds upset?

I lifted the cover and lay down beside her.

"What are you doing?" She asks.

“Resting too." I said and pulled closer to me

“Hey! Don't touch me." She said, pushing me away. But I snaked my arms around her waist. 

"Just listen first okay." I said.

"O-Okay." Adellee said.

“Louisa was my girlfriend and my best friend. I know her actions in front of you have led you to think something bad but I want you to know that it's all over." I explained.

"Why are you explaining to me?" She asked. I can feel her fast heartbeats next to me.

That question caught me off guard and I asked myself the same question. Why am I explaining it to her?

"I just want us to start over again and be friends. Maybe we can work this thing out." I said.

"Hmmmm. Why are you nice to me?" She asked again.

"I don't know. Maybe because you're weak and I need to teach you some combat skills." I said joking

“Oh really?” With just one move, my ass was on the floor.

"What the hell?" I said.

“You said, be alert all the time." She said laughing

My world stopped at her laughter. Is she really my mate? Can she feel it too?
