A week later there is a lumber truck in my front yard dropping off materials for the gazebo Chris is building for us. Connor and Noah are out back with Chris ‘helping' the crew. Vivienne and I are inside watching their antics through the back sliding door. A faint buzzing noise pulls my attention from them and I start looking through my bag for my phone. Finally locating it I see Kate calling.

"Hi stranger!" I happily greet her.

"Hey girl! I wanted to see if you are free, I'm in town again for a few days."

"I am, do you want to come over? We have a bit of a project going on out back but I'll be home pretty much all day." I say.

"That sounds great! Send me the new house address. I'll see you soon!" She excitedly ends the call. 

Thirty minutes later she is pulling into my driveway, I open the door to greet her and we both hug each other for a long time. I have a lot to catch her up on.

"Gimme that baby!" She says, grabbing hands at her. Laughing, I pass her over to Kate and she squeals.

"Oh my God, Larkin, she's the most beautiful baby I have ever seen, seriously."

"Thank you, we think she's pretty special." I reply, caressing Vivienne's cheek.

"Wanna see the house?" I ask her.

"Yes please!" I lead her around the living room and show her the kitchen, as we pass the backyard both boys run in to get water and nearly barrel over both of us.

"Sorry mom, we gotta hurry back. They really need us." Connor says to me while Noah nods his head along in agreement. He looks so serious but I know he is having a great time. It makes me so happy to see him relaxing and being a kid again, Chris makes them both feel so included and I know how much he loves them both. He tells me all the time.

"Well then you better scoot then!" I tell them both, after they run out the door I turn back to Kate.

"Lets go see upstairs. I need to change someone too.”

Walking down the hallway I point out everything we have done to the house so far, once in the baby's room she moves to look out of her window while I replace her diaper.

"So I have a couple ideas for the coffee shop window front, I'm gonna send...."

"Who's that?" Kate cuts me off staring at someone in the backyard. I move over next to her and see where she's pointing.

"Oh that's Tyler, he works for Chris. He asked some of his guys to help build this thing." I look over at the love struck look on her face.

"Would you like me to introduce you two?" I say, wriggling my eyebrows at her. She isn't usually nervous around guys, actually usually she uses them up and spits them out. Is she blushing?! "Kate..."

"Yes please," she turns to look at me.

Fifteen minutes later we are back in the kitchen putting together a tray of drinks for the men in my backyard. I glanced out the window and it really is like a sexy calendar shoot back there. Once ready I pick up the tray and Kate walks ahead of me and opens the back door for us. Setting up everything on our patio table, I wave to Chris showing him what we brought. He turns to his guys and then everyone is walking our way. Glancing at Kate she could not be any redder. Tyler took his shirt off since she gawked at him through the upstairs window.

"Thank you sweetheart," Chris says, giving me a big sweaty kiss, I giggle and squirm away from him.

"Everybody this is my good friend Kate," I say gesturing to her, she's staring at Tyler and when he looks up at her right back too. He gives a little smile.

"Nice to meet you Kate," he offers her. And now she's as red as a tomato! She halfway waves back and smiles at him After taking a few moments to cool off and enjoy their cold drinks they start to wander back to the lumber pile. I notice he is lingering and I stay closer to Chris to see what happens.

I eventually make my way back inside and she reluctantly follows me. As soon as we were in the kitchen and out of earshot I turned to her.

"What was that!?" I demanded.

"I don't know! He's so cute! l’m glad you introduced me because I literally forgot my own name!" She says putting her face in her hands. I can't help but laugh at her, I've never seen her like this and it's adorable.

"I’ve never been this rattled by a man before Larkin." She says making eye contact.

"Do you want me to ask Chris for his number?" I offer.

"No! Are you crazy?" She says flustered. I raise my eyebrows at that. "I don't want to make a fool of myself, if he asks me that's one thing. But what if he has a girlfriend or something?"

"He doesn't."

"Really?" She says so hopeful I can't help but chuckle at her, boy oh boy she's got it bad. Kate stayed for another hour chatting with me and playing with Vivienne while stealing glances at my backyard.

Later that evening while Chris and I were in the bathroom getting ready for bed I shared my suspicions about the two of them.

"I'm telling you, she likes him," I told Chris as I applied facial moisturizer.

"Then why didn't she stay longer? I think you just want our friends to be together, I mean it would be great but you can't project something on them." He says putting toothpaste on his toothbrush.

“I'm serious, I've known her a long time, that was Kate with a crush," I tell him laughing. I can see him smile even with a mouthful of paste and a toothbrush.

I make my way to the bedroom and pull back the covers, I can hear the sink and then the unmistakable chime of a text message making my cars perk up even more. Slowly exiting the bathroom Chris has a sly smile on his face,

"Guess who just texted asking for Kate's number?"

"I knew it!" I yell and bounce up and down. As my breast bounces with me I notice Chris's eyes traveling down my body. At the same time a red flush crawls up my neck toward my face. He moves across the room with purpose to reach me and grabs me in a passionate kiss. I arch my back into him, pressing my chest against him. He pushes me down onto the bed and continues to caress and grope my body. I sigh happily looking forward to my night that lay ahead with him.
